I like it – Sony Reader

    February 19, 2010  |  by Susan  |  All Posts  |  1 Comment

I was recently given a Sony Reader as a gift from my parents (I had asked for it and got lucky).   Thanks mom and dad, you rock!!   Now in all honesty I am not a big reader.  I don’t zip through several books a week or read in bed.  Between my  3 boys,  2 dogs, blog, computer, Blackberry, do I really have time anyway?  Not much, but like that craving for some salty potato chips, I occasionally get a craving for the written words of a masterful story teller.  A good book that can either scare me, inform me, or make me forget (for even a moment) that my name is mom.

I really enjoy using on my Sony Reader.  There are 3 font sizes so even glasses wearing blind chicks like me can read it comfortably.  It is perfect if your reading it in the sun too (unlike my laptop).  And I love that I can pop it in my purse and take it anywhere with me.  I could say a ton of good things about the Sony Reader.  Suffice to say I am very happy with my reader and I fully intend to be a more avid reader.  In fact I am on my second book since getting it.

If you have a reader, which one do you have and do you like it?

Baby Bunch Bouquet – Review and Giveaway

    February 18, 2010  |  by Susan  |  All Posts, Reviews/Giveaways  |  142 comments

    CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED

    we have a WINNER!

Congrats to Cheryl for winning this contest from Baby Bunch with comment number 52 (chosen by Random.org)

The Baby Bunch invited me to review one of their Baby Bunch Bouquets (pictured above).  Isn’t that a pretty bouquet?  It is much more then simply a bouquet though, it is made out of baby clothes.   I think this is such a cute idea.  A Baby Bunch Bouquet is a  wonderfully unique way to give a new mom or mom to be some infant baby clothes.

The Classic Baby Bunch Bouquets come in medium, large and extra large and in blue, pink or yellow (new born size).  I received the medium yellow bouquet.  You can see from the below graphic (taken from The Baby Bunch website) the decorative box the bouquet comes in and what is included in the medium sized bouquet.

The bouquet was so pretty I hated taking the clothes out of it, but I did.  The clothes in the bouquet are very nice, soft feeling and of good quality (not flimsy or thin material). The bouquet was put together well too, very durable.  I just loved the bouquet and wished there had been something like this when I had my kids.  No matter though because my niece is getting good use of them.  And isn’t she just so cute in her new Baby Bunch clothes?

    The Giveaway!

Baby Bunches would like to give one of my lucky readers a medium Baby Bunch Bouquet in your choice of pink, blue or yellow (a $59.99 value).  Contest is open to all my readers in the united states.

    Five Question Friday

    February 12, 2010  |  by Susan  |  All Posts  |  No Comments

My Little LifeI needed a post for today and found “Five Question Friday”.  Here are the questions for this week in honor of Valentines day ;)   (I just found this meme so I am very late today, oops)

    1. What is the one thing your love does for you that you can’t live without?
Hmmm,  one thing he does is let me control the television remote (now that is love).
    2. When did you know your love was “the one”?
Not sure the exact moment.  I do know neither of us were looking for “anything” when we started dating.  After the first date I wasn’t even sure I wanted a second date.  I am glad I did give my dh a chance as I am happy with who we are together.
    3. Does your love have a special ringtone on your cell?
LOL, yes I do!  I have the song “Crystal Ball” by Keane.
    4. What are you attracted to most in your special someone?
One of the things that attracts me to him is I am the only one who sees his sensitive side cause he saves it just for me.
    5. Did you know when/where he/she was going to pop the big question?
He didn’t pop the big question, at least not like you see in the movies.  Getting engaged was something we talked about and just “did”.

If you would like to take part in Five Question Friday you can find the linky at My Little Life.

    Ewww, time to freak

    February 7, 2010  |  by Susan  |  All Posts  |  1 Comment

When you live in Arizona there are certain concessions I guess you have to make.  Dealing with the heat would be a major one.  However, living with scorpions is not one I am willing to make.  I know they are around but I have never really had to deal with them at all.  I lived in Tucson for over 5 years and never saw one.  I did find one in my last house here in Phoenix that I lived in nearly 2 years, but it was dead and I have found it in my washer (ewww).  I try not to think about how I may have picked it up live in my dirty clothes and transported it to the washer myself.  My parents lived in their last house for two years and never encountered one.  Well now they are in another house and my sister found on tonight.  Needless to say she freaked out.  It was one of those light colored ones, almost clear color and on a beige floor.  We are lucky she saw it at all.  She found it in the kitchen.  We had just finished dinner.  We all had been walking around barefoot or in stocking feet all day/evening.  Where the hell did it come from and how long has it been here before we found it??  There are like seven dogs (I’ve lost count) and two cats in this house.  A lot of good they did us huh?  There are just some things I don’t want to deal with and scorpions are one of them.  Ok, tarantulas are worse but in all my time in AZ I have never seen one of those, except in a cage.  I still have the willies.  Thank heaven my bed is way up off the floor.  I do not want to find his friends in my bed.

Safeway/Fiber One – Review (yum) and Giveaway!

    February 5, 2010  |  by Susan  |  All Posts, Reviews/Giveaways  |  71 comments

You may (or may not) know that lately I have been trying to eat healthier.  I love yogurt to begin with so I always incorporate it into my healthy eating routine.  Fiber One yogurt is the perfect fit for me.  Not only is it super yummy, it has only 50 calories and 5 grams of fiber.  Plus they have some super delicious flavors like, strawberry, peach, vanilla and key lime pie.  I went to the Fiber One website and found a very scrumptious looking recipe for Fiber One Strawberry Smoothies that I am most definitely going to try.

You know who else loves Fiber One yogurt??  Best-selling author and food expert Lisa Lillien, AKA Hungry Girl, has given her “seal of approval” to the new Fiber One yogurt, the only leading nonfat yogurt with 50 calories and 5 grams of fiber (20 percent of the Recommended Daily Value). It is also a good source of calcium and vitamins A and D, making this a guilt-free and all-around great choice for dieters and those watching their weight (see what Hungry Girl thinks about the new yogurt here!)

Listen up everyone, from January 13th through February 9th, the Safeway family of stores (also good at Dominick’s, Tom Thumb, Randalls, Vons, Genuardi’s) has a special deal where you can purchase two 4-packs of Fiber One yogurt for only $4!

Now for the fabulous giveaway…   Safeway is offering one of my lucky readers a $50 gift card.  So not only can you pick yourself up some Fiber One yogurt, you can also stock up on some of the many products Safeway carries.

First (mandatory) entry: Visit the Fiber One website and let me know either your favorite Fiber One yogurt flavor, or which one you would like to try.

    Pom Wonderful – Review

    February 3, 2010  |  by Susan  |  Reviews/Giveaways, Wordless Wednesday  |  1 Comment

Pom Wonderful, you’ve heard of it right? You know, that 100% Pomegranate juice that has uniquely high levels of powerful antioxidants. Everything about Pom Wonderful sounds…, well, wonderful.

I have know about Pom Wonderful for awhile now.  I was pleased when I got the chance to review it.  I really did not know what to expect since I’ve never even had a pomegranate before.  I found that I am not a big fan of the pomegranate taste, but that is just me.  As far as juices go I don’t care for cranberry either and I think the taste of Pom Wonderful “might” compare to that.  However, there are many ways to enjoy Pom Wonderful juice without drinking it straight and I found one I love.  There are dozens (and dozens) of recipes on their site and since I  love smoothies, that is what I tried.  I went with the breakfast smoothie cause that was the one that called for a full 8oz of pom Wonderful juice.  It took just enough of the edge off the tartness of the Pom Wonderful flavor and I really enjoyed it.  I have 3 boys and they all loved it too.  They have been asking me almost everyday to make them one.  I am all for something healthy that they actually like to have.

I discovered on the Pom Wonderful website that they have way more products then I ever knew.  One of those products is the Pomx pill.  For me that would be perfect.  I can still get all the antioxidant properties of Pom Wonderful without drinking the juice.   And I am dying to try the Pomx Iced coffee (I love coffee anything).

You really need to check out the Pom Wonderful website,  there is so much information there along with forums, recipes, and everything you need to know about Pom Wonderful, the studies that have been done and where to get their great products.

    * For this review I received 4 16oz bottles of Pom Wonderful 100% pomegranate juice from Pom Wonderful.  All the opinions in my review are mine and no one elses.
