Life with puppy

I know we have only had Coco a few short weeks but I can almost see the writing on the wall.  Anyone remember the book and movie “Marley and Me”?  I think we gave our dog the wrong name. She seems to be a very strong willed, hyper,  psychopath (when she is not sleeping that is).

Coco likes to “attack” us.  Of course those needle sharp puppy teeth make it just that much worse.  Be careful if she is in a playful mood and you decide you want to give her a kiss cause she will try to take your face off.  Of course she is nearly a little angel for Jeremy (like that surprises me….).   It gets kinda frustrating when the kids and dogs listen to him but not me.

She also loves to steal things.  Whether it is clothes from the laundry or garbage from the trash can.  And if she wants it, she is going to get it. I found her chewing up a roll of toilet paper earlier today, inbetween chewing on banana peels she stole from the trash.  Oh and she hates to give things up too.  Reminds me of this poem.

If I like it, it’s mine.
If it’s in my mouth, it’s mine.
If I can take it from you, it’s mine.
If I had it a little while ago, it’s mine.
If it’s mine, it must never appear to be yours in any way.
If I’m chewing something up, all the pieces are mine.
If it just looks like mine, it’s mine.
If I saw it first, it’s mine.
If you are playing with something and you put it down, it automatically becomes mine.
If it’s broken, it’s yours.

If you sit down to eat, watch out.  She smells food and goes crazy. I have never seen a dog go so bonkers to get at whatever is on your plate.  The rule around here is we never feed our dogs table scraps.  Of course they are  always getting the crumbs the boys inevitably drop on the floor.  But if I sit down with  food she is absolutely relentless and  is still learning the word “NO”, which she mostly ignores at this point.

This puppy girl needs to get out and exercise.  I keep trying to take her for walks.  But at just 8 weeks old she is still skiddish about sounds and unfamiliar things.  We will get about 10-20 feet from the RV and she puts on the brakes and will take off back towards RV.  I am giving her time.  Not much fun for either of us if I am dragging her most of the way on our walk.  Today I might take her out with one of my older dogs.  I am sure she would then follow along.  The only problem with that is I don’t want puppy picking up bad walking habits from my other dogs who have issues with running ahead and not staying beside me. Do you think it is possible my puppy could teach my old dog new tricks?  Yeah, too much to hope for there.

I am just waiting till she is 5 months old so I can start taking her to obedience classes.  Sure hope she doesn’t destroy the house between now and then lol.   And if she does, well then that is just our fault, not hers.  We have left all 3 dogs home alone twice together (longest time being 5 hours) and so far nothing bad has happened upon our return, so far anyway.

I weighed Coco yesterday and she is about 13 pounds at 8 weeks old.  That is half the size of my full grown dogs.  I swear today when I picked her up she felt even heavier then yesterday.

I really tried to get a picture of Coco for this post.  She just wouldn’t set stll though, unless she was sleeping and I already have a bunch of pics of her doing that.

So instead here is a video of Coco playing/attacking one of jeremy’s boots  lol.

p.s  I couldn’t even really watch the video cause my stupid computer is being so slow.
