Make your blog “Carbon Neutral”

March 30, 2010 |  by Susan  |  All Posts

Is your blog carbon neutral?  Mine isn’t yet, but it will be.  Did you know that a blog with 15,000 views a month generates 8 lbs of carbon dioxide emmisions a month?  These carbon dioxide emissions are a result of the the energy usage from computers, servers, and their cooling systems.

There is a way to equal out those emissions though.  Check out “My blog is carbon neutral”, which is an initiative, originally started in Germany by the “Make it green” programme, who’s goal is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. They will plant a tree for your blog and thereby neutralize your blog’s carbon footprint for the next 50 years! Everyone can make a small contribution to the environment.   This initiative is planting trees in cooperation with the Arbor Day Foundation in Plumas National Forest in Northern California for their project to neutralize the carbon footprint of blogs.  Every tree counts!

It is easy to join and a good thing to do for our planet.
