I don’t participate in “Black Friday” and I really don’t get those who do. Sure, I love shopping and I love deals but I hate crowds so maybe thats it. I think it goes deeper then that though.
I was out today at noon on Thanksgiving and there was already a line at Best Buy for tomorrow morning. Seriously? Is wasting 18 hours of my life worth saving a few bucks (or maybe a $100, $200) ? That is 18 hours of my life I can never get back. For what? For the “chance” to perhaps be the one lucky one out of hundreds of people looking for the coolest gadget/TV/camera out there?
I find at certain times that sales, especially those from Black Friday bring out the animal in people. People push, shove, get angry, and stampede people till they have died. How does a good deal make sense when it takes a life?? Can you imagine dying like that? How awful and pathetic is that? What ever happened to what we learned in Kindergarten about lining up single file and waiting our turn? Are we all so eager for the deal that nothing else matters? It simple blows my mind.
I don’t fault anyone for getting up early and taking their chances at the store of their choice. Shopping is fun, atleast it is suppose to be. But waiting around for a day or two in advance, well I just don’t get it. Thankfully stores are doing their part to change their ways and how they deal with crowds on Black Friday. However, if we all just behaved and acted like the intelligent beings we are everything would be fine from the get go.
If your shopping today, be safe and I hope you fine some rockin good deals out there.
